John M. Philpott


John has over 25 years experience in the Life Science, Technology and Alternative Energy industries with a focus on developing small late-stage private and early-stage public companies into their next phase of growth. After 8 ½ years at Ernst & Young, John joined one of his clients, Miravant Medical Technologies, as CFO for the next 11 years. Miravant was a pharmaceutical drug and device company working in the therapeutic areas of oncology, ophthalmology, dermatology, and cardiology. He joined the company when they were in start-up phase and assisted in taking them public and through subsequent financings, raising over $300 million in various equity, debt, partnering, and licensing transactions. Following Miravant, he joined Kreido Biofuels, Inc., a company involved in the design of a novel application for continuous production of bio-diesel. He joined Kreido soon after their reverse merger into a public company and completed a $25 million PIPE and as CFO led the company’s financial management through overseeing all financial reporting, budgeting and M&A activity. After Kreido, John was CFO and acting CFO for a variety of companies, including a start-up gold mining company, an early-stage drug formulation and fill-finish company, and a portable power supply company. From December 2010 until May 2014, he was Chief Accounting Officer for a $2B staffing services organization, which he assisted in the restructuring of $650M in debt. From June 2014 through July 2016, prior to completion of their IPO, John joined a wireless filter design company which licensed its design to a variety of customers. He established all SEC financial and accounting reporting, processing, and related controls, as well as oversaw contract negotiations and management, IR, and F, P & A. From September 2016 through June 2019, John was CFO of a sports training and medical facility where he reorganized the corporate structure to optimize the tax and accounting benefits, brought in-house all administrative functions, and managed all contracts. He is a CPA, has an MBA from UCLA, and is on the board of two non-profit charities, Finance Chair, and Executive Committee Member for one of the non-profits.
